Home Office & Workspace

As a writer & blogger, I’m pretty obsessed with my home office setup. Especially my…

KEYBOARDS

I have two desk setups but also switch my keyboards between my mechanical keyboard and nearly-silent ergonomic one.

People describe the very clicky sound of the keys on this mechanical keyboard as “creamy,” and I’d have to agree. My brother recommended a mechanical keyboard to me about a year ago and I do love this one! It’s actually pretty affordable as far as mechanical keyboards go, the keys are smooth and responsive, and the colors are cute (it looks pretty cool with the backlight). I use this keyboard a lot, especially when I’m trying to get motivated or work on a longer project. The click-click sound can be deeply satisfying. It’s also a more compact keyboard, so it works well on the smaller table I sometimes use.

This super-comfy keyboard is my tried-and-true, and I’ve been using it for years. It’s quiet and perfectly set up – the wrist pad provides just the right amount of support and the keys are smooth- it feels like my fingers just glide over them. I do like the spacious layout for typing-heavy projects or if my wrist or fingers are feeling fatigued (which might sound silly but it is definitely a thing!)

WALKING PAD

I have an elliptical and garage gym set up that I love, so I didn’t want to go too crazy ding a ton on a walking pad. But I did want one, especially to help break up the workday and get me moving in between work/desk sessions. There are a TON of these on Amazon, but I did a good amount of research (researching stuff on Amazon is kind of my thing, after all 🙂 and I ended up with one that was exactly what I wanted: affordable, smooth, (relatively) quiet, and easy to set up and move around. It also has the slight incline I was looking for.

Kitchen Favorites

The Ultimate Toaster Oven/ Air Fryer/ Awesome Kitchen Appliance

I’ve used this oven for years. I’ve gotten a new one, I’ve moved it around with me, it is the best. I would def recommend putting this on your registry or investing in one at any point. It’s not super huge, it’s really dependable and easy to use, and it’s especially the perfect size for making meals for two. I have made many delicious meals by simply laying out some seasoned veggies and a protein on some parchment paper on the tray and putting it in to roast. The bottom removable catcher tray makes it super easy to clean, too.

Garlic/ Ginger Press

Another good registry addition! This is one simple tool that will last forever and (if you use garlic and/or ginger) make your life easier. It’s great because you can add that garlic flavor to dishes without getting those overwhelming chunks, and it definitely saves on cutting time. I especially love it for ginger because I really prefer adding ginger juice in many dishes/sauces/drinks, rather than ginger pieces. This makes sure no unwanted ginger pieces get in and also saves me from peeling or dealing with the skin.

Books

As much as I love sitting down to cozy up and read a book, a lot of the time, I’m so busy that listening to audiobooks instead, usually while I’m cleaning up or getting some movement in on my walking pad (I listen to hype-up music when I’m working out for real). I love Audible (here’s a link to a free trial: https://amzn.to/4geKnPb) and they have the best selection of books and good podcasts, too (I am a bit of a true crime junkie, “West Cork” is one of their true crime podcasts that takes place in Ireland; both the story and the charming accents made it binge-worthy in my book). I’ll skip the true crime stuff, but here are some books I think are worth checking out:

FICTION

Historic/ WWII Romance: The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

This was an enjoyable listen, especially if you like World War II stuff (which I do). It’s about the lives of two sisters in German-occupied France during the war.

Bold Literary Fiction: The Flamethrowers by Rachel Kushner

This is a good book to get lost in; the writing is descriptive and beautiful and the story it tells will transport you to a different time and place (Rome and the 1970s New York City art scene).

NON-FICTION

The “Get it Together” Manual: Atomic Habits by James Clear

I resisted this book for a long time, in part because it’s so popular and I was skeptical. But it has a ton of actionable, smart advice on setting yourself up for success in life. It’s clear, straightforward, and easy to listen to/read. I honestly still think it’s a bit dry (there are some quick sports-related stories that lose me) but overall it’s super motivating and helpful and I’ll re-listen to it when I’ve fallen out of routine or feel like I need a push to get back to my good habits.

Clothing & Accessories

The G.O.A.T Buttery Black Leggings: Lululemon Align 25”

I pretty much live in black leggings, and Aligns are my all-time, long-time favorite. They’re the most comfortable, the most flattering, and they come in a huge variety of cuts and styles (high-rise, mid-rise, capri, etc.). And while I’m usually pretty boring and stay with black (I like things easy and they simply go with everything!) Lululemon always has them in a ton of colors and prints, plus sometimes in different fabrics (like ribbed or shimmering).
